Text is the title of a hymn written and set to music by Martin Luther in 1529. Luther was declared an outlaw by the Emperor Karl V in 1521 and, for his own safety, he was brought to the Wartburg, a castle in Eisenach, Thuringia, where he lived incognito for ten months during the years 1521 and 1522, calling himself Junker Jörg (Knight George).
A smaller (0.3L/0.25L) version of this stein carries mold No. 2277.
