The city of Torun (Thorn in German), birthplace of Nicolaus Copernicus in 1473, is situated in northern Poland on the Vistula River. In 1871, following the conclusion of the Franco-Prussian War, the city, along with the rest of Prussia, became part of the new German Empire.
This model number was also applied to a stein commemorating the 200th anniversary of the University of Halle-Wittenberg.
