The central image on this stein, which is also the host chapters logo, depicts the Mnchner Kindl (Munich Child) on a shield above a wrap-around cityscape. Created as the coat-of-arms or archival seal of Munich in 1239, the Mnchner Kindl (Munich Child) has evolved from a hooded monk standing in front of Munichs gate to a charming child and symbol of the city.
The Munich theme is continued on the lid inlay with its relief depiction of the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady), one of Munichs most popular landmarks. Located in the old city not far from the central Marienplatz, its two towers, topped with their onion-shaped copper domes, are among the defining images of the citys skyline.
