Porcelain, figural, 0.5L, lithophane (Hofbruhaus).
Created as the coat-of-arms or archival seal of Munich in 1239, the Mnchner Kindl (Munich Child) has evolved from a hooded monk standing in front of Munichs gate to a charming child and symbol of the city.
This stein was a special order piece made for Martin Pauson, a Munich finishing shop and distributor, and normally carries Pausons name on a white panel at the rear of the base. A rare version exists marked Gewidmet von Kathreiners Malzkaffefabriken Mnchen (below).
Price Range: $200-$300
