The name “Caroline” has for some time been applied to this stein by the American collector community. However, the character is called “Käthi” in Germany, where it was made. How “Käthi” got rendered to “Caroline” in the U.S. is unknown.
Reproductions of this stein, some with markings similar to the originals, were made by Schierholz from about 1986 to 1995.
