(The seven Swabians hold a beer test.)
The drinkers depicted on this stein are taken from a medieval German legend about a colorful, if somewhat less than intrepid, band of �monster� hunters (�Die Sieben Schwaben�), who are perhaps best remembered today as the subjects of one of a series of �Household Tales� written in 1812 by Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm. The �1519� probably makes reference to the the fact that the Swabian League was successful that year in expelling the unpopular Duke of W�rttemberg and replacing him, at least temporarily, with a Habsburg governor.
