This body style has been seen with a number of different lid inlays (heads), and was probably produced with all six of the heads used in the �270� series. (Click on the �Next� arrow below to view numbers 270I through 270VI.)
Versions of this stein also exist with metal heads that closely match the Merkelbach & Wick 270III-type head. They have been observed in bronze, copper, pewter and even silver. It�s doubtful that these heads were made in the M&W factory, though they may have been applied there.
