�Spund� (1st text string), is the German word for the bung (or plug) in a keg. In this case, use of the term as a surname [i.e., Stud(ent) Spund] is probably intended to indicate a degree of intoxication associated with the student in the central image, seen here exercising his �academic freedom� by sneaking up behind a night watchman to blow his horn.
