Rothenburg ob der Tauber was probably inhabited by Celts prior to the first century C.E., and today is a popular tourist destination known for its well-preserved medieval old town, including completely intact city walls. The stein�s central image depicts the Rathaus (town hall), parts of which date back to the 13th century. Side images include the Marksturm (Marcus Tower) overlooking one the town�s oldest defensive gates, and the iconic Pl�nlein, a medieval fountain square.
