The theme of this stein is taken from the final act of Wagner�s Die Meistersinger von N�rnberg (The Master Singers of Nuremberg), first performed in Munich in 1868. The scene depicts Eva, a goldsmith�s daughter, placing a wreath on the head of Walther von Stolzing, a Franconian Knight, in recognition of the fact that he has just won the master singers� competition, not to mention the hand of Eva in marriage.
