Die Walküre (The Valkyrie) was the second opera in Richard Wagner’s monumental cycle of four musical dramas, collectively entitled Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelungs). The images surrounding the stein are entitled: “Brünnhilde’s Battle Ride”; “Wotan’s Farewell”; and “Wotan and Brünnhilde”.
