Pottery or stoneware, relief, 0.5L, figural inlaid lid (Brownie).
The images on this stein were initially created by Canadian illustrator and author Palmer Cox (1840-1924) in the late 1870s. The Palmer Cox Brownies appeared in magazines, comic strips and books, as well as in commercial advertising, not to mention on beer steins, well into the second decade of the 20th century.
