Pottery, relief, 1.0L, pewter lid.
The central image on this stein differs only in the details from those found on Nos. 680 (0.5L) and 694 (3.5L) and 805 (0.5L). One of those details is a signpost on the left side that reads “Honolulu 36,000 Km” (below right). The reason for its inclusion is unclear, but it’s interesting to note that the actual distance from Bremen to Honolulu is about 11,600 Km and that the entire circumference of the earth is just over 40,000 Km.
