Melusine is a European folklore character, daughter of a human father and fairy mother, best known from the writings of 14th-century French author Jean d’Arras. According to legend, Melusine was cursed by her mother to become half-serpent every Saturday until she married a man who would respect her the privacy of her weekly bath.
